General
Do you have a store front?
No, at this point we do not have a store front, and we only operate as a home bakery. However, we do supply bakes locally, including The Green Corner in Hove, East Sussex. For the latest information regarding our current retailers, please visit our Instagram featured stories (@uptognugood).
How much notice do you need to bake for me?
This will depend on the size and variety of your order, but in most cases we require a minimum of 48-72 hours to prepare your order. In some cases, it may be possible to order a bake for collection for the next day, but this will depend on the complexity of the order and is not guaranteed. Please get in touch with us via phone/email/text to check.
How do I order?
To place an order, visit our online shop and select the bakes that you would like to purchase. Upon checkout, you can select either delivery or collection, after you have entered your address. There is no charge for collection; for delivery, charges will be calculated automatically based on your post code, and this will be visible to you before you make the payment for your order.
If you have any specific requests, please get in touch before placing in order and we will do our best to help.
What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards on our online shop. We also offer the option for payment via direct bank transfer (UK only), but in this case, please note that your order is not confirmed until your bank transfer payment has come through in full.
Do you sell gift cards?
We do indeed! Gift cards can be purchased either for yourself or for someone else, and are delivered via email, either instantly or on a date of your choosing. Gift cards can be of any value of your choosing, and are valid for one year after purchase. They can be redeemed for any product(s) on our online shop and can also be used to cover delivery charges. Collections & Delivery
Where are you located?
We are located near Norfolk Square in central Brighton, East Sussex, in the BN1 area. The full collection address and post code will be emailed to you once you have placed your order. To protect our privacy, we do not give out our exact address until you order, as this is a home bakery and we do not have a walk-in shop front yet.
How do I choose a specific date for collection?
When checking out your basket, you can add a note to your order to request a specific collection date and time. Once you have placed your order, we will get in touch with you via email or text or confirm the collection data and time. If you would like to discuss collection dates and times before placing your order, please get in touch and we will be happy to advise you. Please note that we are not able to deliver on weekends and bank holidays.
Do you deliver, and if so, where?
Yes, we offer delivery within the Brighton & Hove area (see map for approximate delivery area) via Zedify Brighton and use Royal Mail for UK national deliveries. Delivery in the Brighton & Hove area is currently £4.00 per order, and delivery via Royal Mail is £7.50 per order. This is subject to change and depends on changes to rates specified by the relevant couriers. Delivery charges are automatically calculated when you check out your basket, depending on the delivery post code that you specify. Please note that we are not able to deliver on weekends and bank holidays.
Ingredients and Allergens
What flours are you in your gluten free bakes?
We mainly use almond flour and coconut flour in our bakes, either separately or together. A few of our bakes also use peanut flour and sesame flour. For a full list of the ingredients that we use, please refer to our Ingredients We Use page.
Are your gluten free goods safe for coeliacs?
We do not use any ingredients containing gluten in any of our bakes, and none of our baking utensils come in contact with any products containing gluten. Therefore, our bakes are indeed safe for coeliacs. Nonetheless, when you purchase from us, you agree to our Disclaimer.
Can you bake specific allergen-free bakes?
We can bake a variety of nut-free, dairy-free and egg-free bakes, and when doing so, we take extreme care to ensure no cross-contamination of any allergens. In the past, we have also created customised allergen-free bakes for customers, and these were well received. However, please note that when you purchase from us, you agree to our Disclaimer and persons who have severe allergies to nuts, dairy, eggs, etc., (or any other allergens) consume our bakes at their own risk. Up To Gnu Good cannot be held responsible for any allergic reactions, loss or damage.
Custom Bakes
Do you bake vegan products?
Yes, our online shop contains a number of entirely vegan bakes, as well as those that can be made vegan. For any specific requests regarding vegan bakes, please get in touch and we will do our best to help. Please note that not all bakes are suitable for conversion to vegan versions, and we do not have a separate kitchen for vegan baking.
Do you bake novelty/themed/custom cakes?
We do not bake novelty or themed cakes, as our focus is on entirely gluten free, low carbohydrate, low sugar, diabetic-friendly, flavour-packed, whole food baking, without the use of any artificial sweeteners, colours, flavours, stabilisers, and preservatives. We can create custom cakes in terms of specific flavours for celebration cakes, within reason, but this requires at least two weeks’ notice. To discuss your requirements in more detail, please get in touch.
Do you bake for weddings?
At present, we do not create bakes specifically for weddings. However, if our style, ingredients and products suit your wedding, then we’ll be happy to bake for your special day. Please bear in mind that we do not add any extras like flowers or toppers, you will need to source these yourselves.
Do you bake tiered cakes?
In short, no. Our primary focus is gluten free, low sugar bakes that are packed with flavour and quality. This means that our cakes are much softer and 100% fresh, which makes them difficult to stack in multiple tiers. Some of our celebration cakes are two-layered, but we do not generally create tall cakes with several tiers.
Wholesale & Retail Orders
Are you able to bake wholesale orders?
Yes, we can provide large batch, customised bakes of some of our products for cafes and shops, health centres, care homes, parties, corporate events, etc., but we do not provide on-site, hot food catering. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements and we’ll be happy to advise.
Are you insured?
Yes, we have public liability insurance with Maltings Insurance, owned by SimplyBusiness UK.
Are you registed with Brighton & Hove Council and have a food safety certificate?
Yes, we are registered as a food business with Brighton & Hove Council in the UK and have a five-star rating for food hygiene 😊!
Please get in touch if you have any more questions!
